If you like to cook, you can also prepare many of these great recipes at home.

Applebees Nutrition Information on the Cajun Lime Tilapia:

\"chicken Salad\"

Tilapia is a great tasting fish and is also heart healthy. The Cajun drenched tilapia filet is flavored with generous amounts of limejuice and has 310 calories and six grams of fat. It is served with rice pilaf and vegetables in season. This tilapia meal has two grams of protein.

This sounds like an easy dish to prepare at home. Wash fish and pat dry. Dip each filet in a beaten egg and then in Cajun seasoning. Sprinkle each filet with limejuice and bake or broil in the oven for 15 minutes. Serve with a side of brown rice pilaf and a green salad. How easy is that?

Applebees Nutrition Information on the Grilled Citrus Chicken Salad:

Citrus flavored grilled chicken served on a bed of greens. This also seems like something you could easily create in your own kitchen if you wanted to. Use boneless chicken breast and marinate overnight in your favorite citrus juice such as lime, lemon or even orange juice.

Turn on the barbeque and grill each breast for ten or fifteen minutes on each side. Don't forget to salt and pepper while grilling. My mouth is watering thinking about this grilled chicken. Cut into bite sized pieces and add to your favorite greens. For the dressing be sure to use a citrus base to help bring out the chicken's wonderful flavor of marinade.

Applebees Nutrition on the Mesquite Chicken Salad:

Applebees has such a varied menu. You can choose a quesadilla burger at 518 calories or you can choose mesquite chicken salad, which only has 200 calories. Which works best for you? This salad has the least amount of calories than any other item on the menu. You can buy mesquite flavoring in the seasoning section of most grocery markets, or mesquite chips for the barbeque and make this chicken dish at home.

Applebees Nutrition on the Southwest Cobb Salad:

The southwest cobb salad has a bit more calories than some of the other dishes but sounds so good I had to tell you about it. This is grilled chipolte chicken, shredded cheese, and corn served on a bed of mixed greens. To give this dish fewer calories you could easily substitute the cheese for a vegetable. This is a healthy dish with about 440 calories and no carbohydrates, which is a friend to those on the Atkins diet.

Applebees Nutrition Information on the Grilled Shrimp Skewer Salad:

If you like shrimp, this dish is for you. As you can see, Applebees does offer quite a selection of flavors. But if you want to stay light and healthy you will want to stick to the fish and chicken dishes. The shrimp skewer salad only has 210 calories, 8 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of protein. Very healthy and very light dish.

Keep in mind that the nutrition information listed for these meals only include the fish and chicken of that meal and not the side dishes such as rice or vegetables. If you like eating out you can find healthy eating at Applebees.

Fast Crock Pot Recipes! Easy to Make and Never Boring Crock Pot Chicken Recipes!

Tired of the same old crockpot recipes? I'm going to give you 2 that are different, so easy and delicious! What's worse than the same old chicken, carrots and potatoes? That's a good meal, but you get tired of it quickly. So here are a couple that are a little bit different. There are 2 things you need to remember when it comes to crock pot cooking.

1. Don't put frozen meat in the crock pot. Slow cookers bring up the temperature of meat slowly. That's the point isn't it? But if meat doesn't reach 140 degrees within 4 hours, you run the risk of developing bacteria in your food. We don't want this, so no frozen meat. No matter what other recipes say.

\"chicken Recipes\"

2. All crock pots cook differently. Timing will vary for each one. However, you must be absolutely sure that your crock pot brings food up to 140 degrees when on LOW. If it doesn't, you need a new one. So, get a meat thermometer and test it.

Now here are those recipes - 2 of my family's favorites.

Crock Pot Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

1 1⁄2 pounds chicken breast or tenders
2 packages (8 ounces each) white mushrooms, cut into thirds
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄4 teaspoon black pepper
1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, cut into chunks
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, cut into pieces
1 1⁄2 cups grated Parmesan cheese, plus additional for garnish
1 1⁄2 cups whole milk 1 package (1 pound) fettuccine Spray bottom of slow cooker with cooking spray and arrange chicken in a single layer. Sprinkle chicken with salt, pepper and paprika. Top with mushrooms. In medium sauce pan over medium heat, stir together remaining ingredients, except for the pasta. Stir constantly. Heat through and pour over chicken. Cook on LOW 6-8 hours or HIGH 4-5 hours. You can add broccoli to crock pot about 2 hours before serving. Serve over hot fettuccini.

Crock Pot Merlot Chicken

Wine For The Beginner - Red Wine Selection Tips For Beginners

Zinfandel, Shiraz, Merlot, oh my. Understanding the complexities and variety of red wine can be daunting, especially when it comes to choosing the correct wine for a dinner. Here are some wine selection tips for five of the most popular red wines for the beginner.

Cabernet Sauvignon

\"bbq Chicken\"

Considered the "King of Red Wine Grapes", Cabernet Sauvignon originated in the Bordeaux region of France and established itself in the California wine markets to become one of the world's most popular red wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is usually matured for 5-10 years to create a mellow-flavored wine. It is often blended with other grapes, most notably Merlot, to create a soft wine with lively fruit tones. Cabernets are medium to full-bodied wines high in tannins which carry rich berry, tobacco and sometimes even green pepper flavors. Cabernet pairs well with lamb, red meats, hearty red pasta dishes, strong cheese and dark chocolate.

Pinot Noir

The Pinot Noir grape is very difficult to grow demanding climates with consistently warm days and cool nights. Nonetheless, it is grown in regions including Oregon, California, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Italy. Due it's strict growing requirements, Pinot Noir is produced in lesser quantities than many other popular red wines and tends to be a little pricier. It is a lighter colored and flavored red wine with sweet undertones of berries, tomatoes, cherries, plums and earthy or woody flavors depending upon where it is grown. Pinot Noir is one of the most versatile red wines and pairs nicely with poultry, fish, lamb, pork, ham, spicy seasonings and cream sauces.

Zinfandel has been a mainstay of the Californian wine market since the mid-1800s. Originally from Italy, this robust grape has found a good home in the Americas. The Zinfandel grape produces two varietals: the red Zinfandel, and the White Zinfandel (also called White Zin) which has become a popular wine for the beginner. The basic Zinfandel is a rich, dark red wine with flavors of sweet berries, plums and black pepper and undertones of oak. White Zinfandel is made by removing the grape skins shortly after the grapes are crushed. The result is a rose to pink colored wine with a lighter flavor. Red Zinfandel pairs nicely with red or white meat, hearty fish, burgers and spicy dishes. White Zinfandel is suited to a large rage of foods including Cajun and Asian flavors, BBQ chicken and heavy seafood dishes.

Merlot originates from the Bordeaux region of France and is a soft and lush, medium-bodied wine. Its juicy fruit flavors and low tannin content makes Merlot a popular wine for the beginner. Merlot has a wide range of tones including plums, cherries, blueberries, blackberries and black pepper. Merlot is often blended with other wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to soften their flavors and gain more structure and definition. Merlot is a versatile red which pairs well with pork, red meats, pastas and salads.

Known as Syrah in France, Shiraz is a bold, spicy wine which has become very popular in Australia where it gained its alternative name. It is a medium to full-bodied wine with firm tannins that give it a fuller body than most younger reds. Shiraz has an impressive range of flavors including black cherry, blackberry, plum, bell pepper, black pepper, licorice and even dark chocolate and smoked meat. Shiraz stands up well to hearty foods including grilled meats and vegetables, wild game, seasoned red meats, beef stew and meaty pizzas.
