Fastest Diet

The fastest diet you can follow to achieve the greatest number of pounds lost in the shortest possible span of time, with the least amount of sacrifice or dietary reconditioning is the calorie shifting diet. You can expect to lose 9 pounds for every 11 days on this diet, or upwards of 20 pounds per month.

You can eat as much food as you want until you are satisfied but not too full. You will be eating from all four food groups while on this diet. In fact, you are required to eat 4 full meals every day, as long as you space them out by at least 2.5 to 3 hours.

\"roast Chicken\"

On this diet, you will be required to shift your calories around into different groups, to be eaten at different meals, at different times of day each day. By consuming food in this set pattern, you will be triggering the appropriate metabolic response in your body that releases the appropriate fat-burning hormones that will induce rapid weight loss.

Your body's metabolism is what regulates the rate at which food is consumed, and whether or not to burn or to store fat. Most people do not realize that that your metabolism is something that you can control literally at will, if you simply take the time to learn how to.

The calorie-shifting diet was designed to work in such a way that, even though you are eating as much food as you want from every food group, you are grouping the types of foods you eat together into different meals in such a way that the presence or absence of certain nutrients will "fool" your body into thinking that it needs to burn fat. This is because you are constantly rotating different nutrients in and out of your diet at regular intervals so that while your body thinks it is being deprived of one nutrient and starts to burn fat, you reintroduce that nutrient back into your diet and withhold another nutrient, fooling your body's metabolism again.

Here is a sample meal plan to illustrate how the calorie-shifting diet works and why it is the fastest diet for weight loss. The diet plan lasts for 11 days but only 3 days are included here, just to give you an idea of how the plan is structured and to give you a sense of how satisfying and sustainable this diet truly is. Keep in mind that each of these four meals may be eaten in any order throughout the day, as long as you only eat that the designated foods at each of their respective meals.

1st Day:

1st Meal: Oatmeal

2nd Meal: Tuna Salad

3rd Meal: Any kind of Sandwich

4th Meal: Boiled Eggs

2nd Day:

1st Meal: Banana Milk Shake

2nd Meal: Roast Chicken

3rd Meal: Scrambled Eggs and a side of Mixed Vegetables

4th Meal: Cottage Cheese

3rd Day:

1st Meal: Grilled Chicken

2nd Meal: Fruit Salad

3rd Meal: Fish Filet

4th Meal: Cottage Cheese

Taking a look at the menu plan above, it may seem unfathmable that eating as much food as you want at each of four meals per day of these types of foods could render this the fastest diet possible for weight loss. But the key to your weight loss lies in the fact that the meal plans are structured to be the most conducive to overcoming your metabolic resistance to fat burning.

Gout Recipes

A person's diet changes dramatically when he is diagnosed with gout. Red meat, organ meat, shellfish, beans, and legumes are not allowed. The use of salt and oil should be limited. Alcohol intake is discouraged. So what else is there to eat and drink, you may ask. The answer is a lot. It is all just a matter of preparing the food you are allowed to eat into a fantastic and filling meal. Let this article guide you to the food that you can eat and the delicious ways to prepare them.

Gout-friendly ingredients

\"chicken Breast\"

There are still many foods that a person who has gout can enjoy. Fruits like watermelons, oranges, and grapefruit and foods that are rich in complex carbohydrates like brown rice and whole wheat bread should make up 40 percent of a gout sufferer's diet. Cherries in particular have been said to be very beneficial in lowering uric acid levels in the blood. Aside from red meat, fish, lean meat such as chicken breast, and soy products are also great sources of protein. Vegetable oil instead of animal fat should be used.

Since salt should be used sparingly, other food flavorings should be used. Replace salt with herbs and spices like basil, marjoram, and oregano. Use garlic in particular because it is also known to lower uric acid levels in the blood.

Food preparation

Instead of frying, bake or grill fish and lean meat. Marinate marlin or swordfish with crushed garlic, pepper, and other spices, and grill it over fire. Serve this with brown rice and grilled vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, corn and squash on the side.

For drinks, water is best but it will not hurt to try something different once in a while. For a refreshing drink, make a smoothie out of bananas, apples, watermelon, and silken tofu. Silken tofu is a great additive to smoothies. To sweeten, add a little honey or maple syrup. These are invert sugars and not simple sugars so they are just fine.

How to Lose a Fat Stomach - 4 Foods to Avoid

It all sounds so simple - just eat less calories and exercise more. But you have probably found that losing weight is anything but simple. And there is a reason for this. Losing weight is hard. We start building our eating habits at a very early age, and some experts believe that these habits are set by age five! Think back to what you wanted to eat at five, and you will better understand why we prefer dessert and dread eating our vegetables. But beyond overcoming our poor eating habits, there is a lot of bad information out there that can cripple you as you attempt to lose weight. If you want to learn how to lose a fat stomach, you need to not only eat fewer calories, you need to eat the right things. And more importantly, not eat the wrong things. Below are four foods that you should avoid at all costs if you want to lose a fat stomach.

How to Lose a Fat Stomach Tip #1 - Fast Food is Bad!

\"chicken Salad\"

Let's start with an obvious one. If you truly want to lose weight, you need to stay away from fast food. That Big Mac you just finished had 570 calories and 32 grams of fat. The large fries had another 500 calories and 25 grams of fat. And the large (32 oz.) chocolate shake? A cool and creamy 1,160 calories and 27 grams of fat. After that one meal you have eaten over your daily recommended calorie and fat levels. Even a southwest chicken salad with ranch dressing has 600 calories and 24 grams of fat. It does take planning ahead, but it is possible to cut out fast food. I very rarely eat fast food these days and it shows. This is the one thing that made the biggest impact on my own diet.

How to Lose a Fat Stomach Tip #2 - No Fat Free Foods!

This seems strange, that in order to lose fat, I am telling you to stay away from fat free foods. There are several reasons for this. First, when fat is removed from something, sugar is added in its place. More sugar equals more calories, more carbs, and less weight loss. A second reason is that psychologically, when people see that something is fat free, they figure that they can eat as much as they want. I have many friends who gorge themselves on fat free desserts thinking that it won't impact their diets since it is fat free. Surprisingly, they never seem to lose weight. A final reason, is that when fat is removed, chemicals are often added. I prefer to eat foods the way that God made them, not how science can recreate them. I find myself feeling much healthier when I eat natural as opposed to processed foods. I know that this is unscientific, but I am much more likely to eat healthy if it makes me feel healthy and energized.

How to Lose a Fat Stomach Tip #3 - Drop the Fruit Juice!

Another surprising food that will stop weight loss in its tracks is actually a drink - fruit juices. They seem healthy, especially those that claim to be 100% juice. The trouble with fruit juices is that it takes everything "bad" about a fruit (sugar, calories, and carbs) and strips out everything "good" about a fruit (fiber, feeling full). Juices are so bad for a diet because they are high (apple and orange juice have roughly 120 calories in 8 ounces compared to 100 calories in 8 ounces of Pepsi) in calories. Eat fruit instead and the fiber will not only help you to feel full (where juice will leave you craving further sweets), but will help to regulate healthy blood sugar levels.

How to Lose a Fat Stomach Tip #4 - Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup At All Costs!

This has been in the news recently, but it warrants repeating - stay away from high fructose corn syrup. Not only is it high in calories, research has found that consuming high fructose corn syrup causes your body to grow fat cells and contributes to the early onset of diabetes and heart disease. So not only will heeding this step help you to lose the stomach fat, it could help you to live longer as well!

My Favorite Pizza

Favorite Food - Pizza

Pizza is defined as an oval shaped flat disc-shaped bread that is covered in tomato sauce, cheese, and slices of pork, fish, beef, or even purely vegetables. In ancient times, pizza was a simple bread covered with oils, herbs, and cheese. It was then in later times that the bread was covered with flour, cheese, and some flavored herbs. In modern times, pizza that had tomato sauce on top came from Italy and it was in 1889 that cheese was added as a topping. During that time, more and more toppings were added other than cheese.

\"chicken Breast\"

One of the reasons why I love pizza is its versatility as a food. You can add or take something away from it to suit what you like. For example, if you like to have a fresh garden pizza, you can add a few vegetables in to the mix along with cheese, tomato sauce, and some herbs. Others who are meat lovers can flood their pizza with different kinds of meat. Some have preferences like tuna over pork while others stick to the original tomato sauce and cheese only with a dash of herbs and spices. There are also different crusts in pizzas. You can make your crust as thin as you want or if you have an appetite as gigantic as an elephant, you can make a thick crust pizza.

It is the versatility of pizza that separates it from other cuisines and dishes. Chinese food only has the same type of recipe over and over. The Indian cuisine puts a lot of spice into their dishes. Whereas in pizza, you can make your dish as spicy as you want or you can make it sweet and sour. It is the individuality of the dish that makes the pizza my favorite food of them all.

Themed Weddings - A Pirate's Bride

Ahoy matey! When you were growing up did you enjoy watching old pirate movies like Captain Blood or the Black Swan that showcased a swashbuckling Tyrone Power? I know I did and still do to this day, that's why I decided to come up with some great wedding tips for a pirate themed wedding.

A pirate's wedding can be loads of fun and can incorporate some unique ideas straight out of your imagination. The first thing is to decide where you would like your pirate wedding to be held. A sandy beach, or an elegant home transformed to resemble a pirate's hideout? Perhaps you might be interested in contacting a Hollywood producer about using an old pirate ship from a movie set. You make the decision after all this day is one you have dreamed of all your life. Lights! Camera! Action!

\"roast Chicken\"

After you have decided on a unique spot for your wedding it's time to bring all the little details that make up a wedding to life. Let's start with some obvious ones like wedding attire.

Since you have decided to become a pirate's bride it's now up to you to dress the part. You might first look at gowns from the pirate's era as a starting point. Well heeled brides wore elaborate gowns that often included a corset or lacing and were patterned from silk or damask with puffy sleeves edged with lace on both cuffs and bodice. You might go back and take a look at the stunning gown Princess Diana wore at her wedding to get a good idea of this particular style. Also the color is entirely up to you. Dress your bridesmaids in a plainer version and add the corset for effect.

Dressing the groom can be alot of fun using the pirate theme. Pirates dressed in bold colors like crimson red or royal purple breeches and muslin shirts enhanced by puffy sleeves and cuffed with dripping lace. Next go for a black belt embellished with a huge gold buckle and knee high black boots for effect. Follow this flamboyant style with a black, tricorn hat adorned with an electrifying red or purple feather and have the groom wear a gold hoop earring and gold necklaces. Last but not least, you might add a black eye patch for a dazzling finish. Have your groomsmen dress as lesser pirates in more somber attire, after all, the groom is the star.

If you really want pirate style, send out invitations made up to look like ransom notes or treasure maps inviting your guests to appear at your wedding. You might also request them to dress in old world attire if they choose.

Now that we've dressed you and your groom and sent out invitations, it's time to dress up your wedding feast. Drape your tables in scarlet cloth and give your guests wine bottle stoppers or letter openers boxed in miniature treasure chests. Finally, let the feast began! Offer your guests pewter plates and cups and let them choose from an assortment of foods that include lobsters, coconut shrimp, fresh salads, tropical fruit, roast chicken and baked bread washed down with an assortment of champagnes, liquers, whiskey and sodas.

After the feast, you might wish to start your honeymoon in the captain's cabin complete with port hole so you can look out at the stars.

I hope I have given you some great ideas to make your pirate themed wedding truly the wedding of your dreams!

The Effects of Diet on Oily Skin

There are plenty of possible changes you could make to your diet to improve the situation of your skin if you are feeling like it is a little bit too oily. The amount of changes you decide to make is up to you and depends on how serious you are about trying to improve the situation. All of the recommendations are healthy in general however I recommend making only one or two changes to see if you get the desired results, its all about trial and error and the results could be very different for each person. The recommendations I provide are only guidelines and it not wise to think of them as rigid rules. Sticking to an really rigid diet is not fun at all for anyone and it usually means that the new diet is hard to keep up.

Here are a list of foods you should try and reduce the consumption of:

\"grilled Chicken\"

  • Sugary snacks
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Soft drinks
  • Chocolate (This is a tough one to avoid!)
  • Junk food in general
  • Fatty foods, for example burgers and food processed with heat-processed vegetable oils such as fish and chips
  • Any foods cooked with oil
  • Salty foods
  • Fluids other than water

This list makes it seem like you should avoid eating any food or drinking any drink that is enjoyable but that's usually how it works when we are trying to improve any aspect of our health! Most of us enjoy eating burgers and chocolate but we do all understand that there are disadvantages to consuming them in excess and it's all about living a balanced lifestyle.

Foods you should try and eat more of:

  • Eat foods that contain many different types of vitamins where possible. The vital vitamin when dealing with oily skin is Vitamin B2, be sure to get enough B2 from foods. Examples of foods that contain B2 are whole grains and nuts or you could always have a multivitamin. This is something that people miss out so make sure you take note!
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg
  • Consume plenty of protein, grilled chicken breasts are an example of food high in protein and low in oils.
  • Foods that are high in iron such as black beans and buckwheat are great, or an iron food supplement would do the trick.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of water every day. This is a nice simple change to any diet that adds plenty of benefits.

I am sure this is what you expected to hear, and if you have not tried some of these foods then they may not sound very appealing but I assure you that you can cook up a delicious meal with options that fit the bill.

How to Make the Perfect Jamaican Jerk Sauce For Chicken

It is believed that they Maroons created Jerk Chicken when they brought cooking techniques form Africa to Jamaica. The techniques were then added to by the Jamaican ingredients and jerk seasoning that the Arawak used. They would smoke the meat for a long period of time for two reasons. One, to keep away the insects that infest Jamaica. Two, to preserve the meat for a much longer time after the cooking process was complete. This smoking also gave the meat it distinguished smoky flavor.

There are two major theories on the origin or the word "Jerk". First, that is was derived from the Spanish word "Charqui", that the Spanish use to denote dried meat. Then over a long period of time this word evolved to "Jerky" and the "Jerk". The second theory consists of the name coming from the act of jerking or poking holes into the meat and stuffing them with spice before the cooking process. Today the word "Jerk" is used as a verb to describe a method of cooking and as a noun to describe the jerk seasonings used in jerk food.

Make sure to purchase a chicken labeled all-natural or organic at your local grocery or meat shop. These products contain low water content. The Best Way To Cook A Wonderful Crock Pot Potato Recipe

Nowadays there are thousands of options for crock pot recipes. You can select from the traditional pot roast to chicken stew to a more interesting enchilada or pizza casserole recipe. It's possible to cook practically anything in a crock pot, but have you ever though about the plain old potato? Most people would not think of cooking side dishes in a slow cooker since generally these appliances are used for making one pot meals. One really great way to bring a new side dish to the table is by creating a delicious crock pot potato recipe.

A Bit About the Potato Itself

\"chicken Recipes\"

Most likely, you've never given the potato much thought other than whether or not to use one or two 'dolups of Daisy' on your baked potato. Potatoes are so common place we tend to stick with what we've grown up with or know best, basic mashed or french fried. The potato does, however, have a rich and interesting history, and can be researched as far back in history as four thousand years ago to Peru. However, when it was first brought to the European continent it was not exactly a big hit because the people at the time believed potatoes to be harbingers of disease. Wow, humans have certainly come a long way.

Tips for Storing Potatoes Properly

Now that we are no longer afraid of potatoes (although I am a bit frightened of the carbs at times,) they have a standard place on most family dinner tables. In fact, the average American person will consume over one hundred pounds of potatoes annually. That's about one potato each and every day. So, with all of these potatoes being purchased and consumed, it's probably a good idea to know how to store them properly. Cooking hard or soggy potatoes in a crock pot recipe will not work, so you will need a container to keep them in. Many folks opt for an everyday brown paper sack from the grocery store. Potatoes should be kept in a cool, dry location, preferably off of the floor.

Cheesy Scalloped Crock Pot Potatoes

10 large potatoes, thinly sliced

2 large onions, chopped

2 cans cheddar cheese soup, condensed

1 cup milk

In a small bowl, mix soup with milk. In crock pot, layer one half the potatoes and one half the chopped onions; spread one half the soup-milk mixture. Repeat layering using rest of ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Do not let your crock pot be used solely for stews and soups. Get that nifty little appliance out and cook all kinds of wonderful new dishes, preferably a nice side dish like our Cheesy Scalloped Potato recipe above. This recipe is great for large groups and will travel well in today's convenient slow cookers. Look for more great side dish recipes online at the numerous recipe and cooking websites available.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stew and Dumplings

Your complete dinner in one pot! This meal has been a family favorite for years, it appeals to the meat and potato lovers and is also quite low fat. It is quick and easy to assemble in the morning and can be left to cook all day in your slow cooker. Add the dumpling batter to the pot ½ hour before dinner. Serves 6.

\"chicken Soup\"

3-4 medium potatoes, cut into small chunks

3-4 stalks of celery, sliced

2 cups of whole baby carrots

1 ½ cups frozen peas

1 ½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into chunks

1 can low fat cream of chicken soup

1 can low fat cream of celery soup

½ cup low fat milk

½ cup water

1-2 tsp poultry seasoning (according to taste)

½ tsp fresh ground pepper

1 ½ cups all purpose flour

1 tsp salt

3 ½ tsp baking powder

2 tsp parsley

1 egg, beaten

3 tbsp melted butter or margarine

2/3-1 cup milk

1. Put potatoes, celery, carrots and chicken into the slow cooker.

2. Mix soups, seasonings, milk and water together and pour over vegetables and chicken.

3. Cook on low for 7-8 hours or until chicken is cooked and vegetables are tender. (You can cook on high for 4-5 hours but results are better on low).

4. Add peas during the last ½ hour of cooking.

5. To make the dumpling batter: mix flour, salt, baking powder & parsley together; add egg, melted butter and milk to dry ingredients. Use enough milk to make a soft dough.

6. Turn heat on slow cooker to high and drop 6 spoonfuls of the batter on top of stew.

7. Cover and cook for approx. 30 minutes or until dumplings are well done. (The dumplings will expand to touch each other during the cooking, so separate them with a knife about half way through to make sure the dough on the sides gets cooked as well).

Hint: Check the stew before you add the dumpling batter to make sure there is plenty of liquid. You can add a can of chicken broth or water if necessary to make sure you have lots of gravy once the dumplings are cooked.

Chicken breasts and skin-less turkey

Recipes For Kids - Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Kids can be very fussy eaters. Most of them will tell you exactly what they like and what they do not like (or at least what they do not like the look of!) Most kids enjoy treats like hamburgers, chicken nuggets, French fries, and sweet foods but it can be difficult to find a balance between healthy eating and good flavor.

There are lots of recipes, which can be baked rather than deep fried though, and your kids will not be able to tell the difference. Look at fried chicken for example. If you make an oven fried chicken recipe, this involves coating the chicken in your favorite crust and baking it rather than frying it. This trims off fat and calories and makes the dish healthier without sacrificing any flavor. Food like that is ideal for kids or adults.

\"chicken Recipe\"

Why Chicken Nuggets are So Well Loved

Nearly all kids adore chicken nuggets this is not only because of their crispy coating. Their bite-sized dimensions make them ideal for dipping. Serve chicken nuggets with mayonnaise, ketchup or barbecue sauce for a mouthwatering dinner.

Chicken nuggets can be teamed with many different side dishes. If you are cooking for children, what about serving French fries or mashed potatoes with the chicken nuggets? Baked beans are also popular with them. Serve some broccoli, carrots, or peas on the side for nutrition. Chicken is a healthy lean meat and baking nuggets instead of frying them in oil keeps them relatively healthy.

Of course, serving deep fried food now and then does not do anybody any harm but once in a while it is nice to make something healthy and nutritious for your kids, which is where recipes like baked chicken nuggets can be useful. Your child will love the nuggets and you will love the fact that they are eating something, which is good for them.

How to Make Baked Chicken Nuggets

This healthy alternative to deep fried nuggets is simple to make. You just need to dip chicken breast pieces in butter and then in seasoned breadcrumbs and bake the chicken nuggets. Serve them with French fries (or oven fries!) and baked beans for a delicious meal, which your kids will love.

You will need:

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups fine dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup parmesan (optional)
How to make them:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Cut the chicken breasts into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Mix the breadcrumbs, salt, and cheese together. Dip the chicken in the melted butter and then in the breadcrumb mixture, patting the crumbs on well so they stick.

Arrange the chicken nuggets on a cookie sheet and bake them for about eighteen minutes or until they are golden brown. Let them cool down for five minutes, then serve them with a dipping sauce and your preferred side dishes.

Recipes For Kids - Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Three Easy But Gourmet Lunch Recipes - Perfect For Entertaining

I love having my girlfriends over for lunch once a month. We always have a good time catching up and enjoying some yummy food. Lunch works out well for us and it's actually a lot easier to prepare than some fancy dinner. Here are three very simple gourmet lunch ideas that are just perfect for entertaining.

 Chicken Salad Croissants

\"grilled Chicken\"

Buy one fresh croissant for each person. Make a batch of your favorite chicken salad. Cut each croissant in half, add some lettuce and tomato on each side, and then scoop some chicken salad on one side and close the sandwich. The lettuce will keep the croissant from getting soggy. Make sure you wash and pat your lettuce leaves dry before adding them.

Grilled Chicken Spinach Salad

Grill some marinated chicken breast the night before. Allow the chicken to cool, slice it and store it in the fridge until lunch the next day. Get a bag of baby spinach and arrange it on a plate for each guest. Add some cherry tomatoes and thin slices of red onion. You may also want to add some roasted red bell peppers (sliced). Top each bed of salad with a few slices of grilled chicken, then drizzle your favorite vinaigrette over the salad and serve. I like to serve this with some fresh French bread.

Waldorf Salad With Chicken Or Turkey

Make a batch of Waldorf salad using your favorite recipe. Then mix in or top it with some oven roasted chicken or turkey. If you are short on time, pick up a roasted chicken at the grocery store and slice some of the breast and lay it on top of each serving of the apple salad.

Three Easy But Gourmet Lunch Recipes - Perfect For Entertaining

Here's my favorite waldorf salad recipe. It is simple, delicious and very inexpensive. Of course you are welcome to browse through my other frugal recipes as well.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Professional Speaker Investment

Wow what a tough job you have today! Finding a speaker who is a Proven Expert and within your budget that your audience will appreciate and love. A speaker that makes YOU look good! It's a large investment of time and dollars so let me give you 10 ideas to help you get the best out of your Speaker Investment.

1. First let me tell you that with all the job layoffs - there are allot of people who are now trying their hands as speaking for a living. And the scary thing is YOU probably can't tell. Today there are vendors who will create a glossy cd/dvd by creating a "fake" audience and adding in applause, and with the right kind of editing - you just might never know these people have no paying clients under their belts, that they're speaking for free while practicing their content and you might be their first paid audience. That's ok... you just need to know that BEFORE you book them. If you want to increase your odds for success, go to a speaker you trust and ask who THEY would recommend. I have clients calling me apologetically "It's not that we don't want you, we just need a topic you don't do or a MAN instead this year, can you help us?" They know I am not a Speaker - I am a RESOURCE to my clients. I build the trust that I can problem solve for them so they call me for help. And I will NEVER recommend a speaker unless I have sat in their audience and seen how they are received by their audience. After all it is MY reputation on the line when I refer.

\"chicken Soup\"

2. Who's on their client list? Make sure you call at least two past clients and ask them about results of their program. It's nice to hear "they were great" but I'm sure you want more than a "feel good" feeling for your return on your investment

3. Are they asking for three people to interview before they come to speak? This way they can personalize their talk knowing background and internal information that will connect with the audience. Every presentation needs to be customized to each audience.

4. How do they PARTNER with you BEFORE the Event? Attendees are waiting until the last minute to make a decision to attend. So what does your speaker do to partner with you and create a high attendance level? Here are just a few things I do for my clients:

- Create a personal email that gets sent out to all prospective attendees before the event telling them that I'm excited about meeting them there.

- Offer a free article about the topic I will be speaking on that often gets printed on their website, newsletter, or magazine

5. Do they have Celebrity Clout? Ask them where they've been published and see if they can create a way to blend that into your conference's theme. Since my stories are in Chicken Soup for the Soul and Chocolate for the Soul books, many clients theme their lunch with a chicken soup appetizer and a chocolate dessert.

6. Are they savvy with the media? Do they know how to talk in "sound bites"? I often do radio promotions of my client's upcoming event via telephone several weeks out. And I'll go to the local television station before or during an event to help that organization get even more publicity.

7. Are they able to help you build additional Pre-Conference Revenue? Ask if they are able to do a pre-conference breakfast and then you can charge an additional fee for this Private VIP Event. Sometimes I will also do a VIP luncheon allowing the audience to ask questions and have access to me that they would not get otherwise in the large convention audience.

8. Do they know other speakers? Remember your speaker should be a resource to you. I always ask my clients - will you also be looking for additional speakers for your event? Then I lighten that work load by recommending or even contacting those speakers for them. Often time a speaker buddy will negotiate down a fee as a favor to me that the client would not be able to get otherwise. I also have a list of Audio/Video vendors who are available locally for clients and a specialty company again for helping theme their event or "stuff their bags".

9. Can they do more than just one session? A speaker who has been in business successfully for many years can often stay and do a breakout for you on another topic. This helps save you travel dollars and time NOT having to find another Expert Speaker for that. I especially enjoy this "gift" to my clients because I really don't get to go into as much depth with a keynote so I can come back and go deeper into the content at a break out session. Can your speaker show their expertise with another topic?

10. How do they support you AFTER the Event? Yes books and tapes are good at the event but what can they offer to support your audience and make sure everyone gets the best return of dollars and time spent? Here are some questions to ask.

- Do they have an auto-responder that can send articles to every attendee with tips and strategies for follow up?

- Do they give their personal office or cell phone number so that attendees can call with questions? I never want my attendees to feel I 'took the money and ran". Try contacting those other "big wigs" after they speak. Attendees have one year follow up with me for questions and help and in 20+ years it has never been abused!

- Do they offer podcasts, webinars, or tele-seminars for supporting the audience after the event?

- What about "motivational minutes"? Wouldn't it be great to hear that voice once a week to start your work week?

- Do they offer articles after the event to publish in your newsletters, magazines, and use as the focus for staff meetings?

Today it's all about building a relationship with your Expert who can help you create success for more than that one day! Professional speakers understand the Power and the Privilege of the Platform. They over deliver, are not arrogant, and look forward to being of service. I hope these tips help you to find just the right one!

Chinese Fried Rice - How to Make Fried Rice

Chinese fried rice is one of the most popular dishes ordered from Chinese takeout restaurants and a lot of people wonder how to get the great flavor and texture of this amazing dish. If you enjoy making fried recipes like a southern fried chicken recipe or chicken fried steak, you will enjoy making this tasty Chinese dish. Fried rice is so simple to make and it is the perfect accompaniment to any Chinese meat, fish, or chicken dish.

This recipe is a great way to combine leftovers. Using leftovers means there are infinite possibilities if you want to make something really flavorful and different countries have their own versions of this dish. Indonesian fried rice is different from the Thai style dish, for example.

\"chicken Fried\"

Cooking Tips for This Delicious Dish

Use steamed or boiled white rice to make this dish. The key to a good dish is to use chilled rice. If you use it freshly cooked, it will not taste authentic or have a good texture. Chilling it overnight gets rid of excess moisture and makes the grains firm and therefore easier to separate. Cooking with fresh grains means you will get mushy results. If you do not have a whole day, make sure it can cool for a few hours somewhere cool before you use it.

The wok has to be very hot so the soy sauce gives flavor to the dish, rather than making it soggy. Also, a layer of oil in a hot wok will dance around and create a nonstick coating. If the wok is not sufficiently hot, the contents will stick to it.

You can use any leftovers you want in this recipe. What about some leftover bacon or ham from breakfast, some chopped chicken from yesterday's dinner or some leftover carrots? Do not use anything too wet or in a sauce, else the dish will go mushy. Garlic, ginger, and salt are good seasonings and you can also add some chili powder to spice the dish up.

The Recipe - Step by Step

This basic fried rice recipe can be modified, as you like. If you are going to add more ingredients to it, you should use three eggs instead of two. This recipe serves four to six people as a side dish. Feel free to add chili powder, ginger, garlic or anything else you fancy.

What you will need:

  • 4 cups cold cooked rice
  • 1 finely chopped green onion
  • 4 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce or soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 eggs

How to make it:

Beat the eggs with some salt and pepper. Heat half the oil in a wok, and then add the eggs. Cook them, stirring all the time, until they are scrambled but still wet. Take out the eggs and wipe out the pan with paper towels.

Add the rest of the oil and stir fry the rice for a few minutes. Use a wooden spoon or a pair of chopsticks to stir the grains and separate them. Stir in the oyster sauce or soy sauce, and then add the eggs back in the pan. Mix well and stir in the green onion. Adjust the seasonings and serve hot.

Chinese Fried Rice - How to Make Fried Rice

Fried chicken is another example of something you can make in your wok. A pan fried chicken recipe makes a change from deep fried chicken and the whole family will enjoy this mouthwatering treat.

Build Muscles With These Foods

As usual after a session in the gym I have a chat with my trainer and invariably the conversation turns to eating. I recently asked him what if any diet he uses or special foods he eats when toning up for a body building competition. I had taken the liberty of bringing along my recorder and this is how he replied.

I reduce my carb intake moderately and temporarily prior to bodybuilding competitions. Specifically, it's the foods that are on the starchy carbs and grains list that go down during the brief pre-competition period when I'm working on that really "ripped" look. I keep the green and fibrous veggie intake very high however, along with large amounts of lean protein, small amounts of fruit, and adequate amounts of essential fats.

\"chicken Breasts\"

It's very important for compliance to choose foods you enjoy and to have the option for a wide variety of choices. In the past several years, nutrition and obesity research - in studying ALL types of diets - has continued to conclude that almost any hypocaloric diet that is not completely "moronic" can work, at least in the short term.

It's not so much about the high carb - low carb argument or any other debate as much as it is about calorie control and compliance. The trouble is, restricted diets and staying in a calorie deficit is difficult, so most people can't stick with any program and they fall off the wagon, whichever wagon that may be.

I believe that a lot of our attention needs to shift away from pointless debates (for example, low carb vs. high carb is getting really old... so like... get over it everyone, its a calorie deficit that makes you lose weight, not the amount of carbs).

Instead, our focus should shift towards these questions:

* How can we build an eating program that we can enjoy while still getting us leaner and healthier?

* How can we build an eating program that helps us control calories?

* How can we build an eating program that improves compliance?

Here's one good answer: Eat a wide variety of high nutrient density, low calorie density foods that you enjoy which still fit within healthy, fat-burning, muscle-building guidelines!

He then went on to give me his top ten foods in natural starchy carbs and whole grains.

1. Oatmeal

2. Yams.

3. Brown rice

4. Sweat potatoes.

5. Multi grain hot cereal.

6. White potatoes.

7. 100% whole wheat bread.

8. 100% whole wheat pasta.

9. Beans.

10. Cream of rice hot cereal.

Next the top ten in Vegetables.

2. Asparagus.

3. Spinach.

4. Green salad.

5. Tomatoes.

6. Peppers (green, red, or yellow)

7. Onions.

8. Mushrooms.

9. Cucumbers.

10. Zucchini.

Now top ten Lean Proteins.

1. Egg whites

2. Whey (protein powder supplement)

3. Chicken breast.

4. Salmon.

5. Turkey breast.

6. Top round steak.

7. Flank steak.

8. Lean ground turkey.

9. Bison/ Buffalo.

10. Trout.

And the top ten Fruits.

1. Grapefruit.

2. Apples.

3. Blueberries.

4. Oranges.

5. Cantaloupes.

6. Bananas.

7. Peaches.

8. Grapes.

9. Strawberries.
10. Pineapple.

I asked him about dairy products and he said that he does eat these but in small quantities and it was usually, skim milk, low fat cheese and yogurts. What was interesting was that he follows a compliance rate of about 95% which means that he can take two or three meals a week of what ever he fancies i.e. pizza, sushi or even a big steak. He also emphasized that these foods were his choice and that there were many more choices available if I cared to look for them.

Minestrone Soup

Minestrone and I have had a complicated relationship. It's long been a favorite of my mother's, so I've been eating it all my life. But, I can't say it's ever been a favorite of mine. It has its upsides, like it's quick and easy, accommodating to a variety of ingredients, and so good for you. But, I was never crazy about it...until now! One of the little known joys of going vegan is a taste bud awakening. I don't know if the dairy and meat make it hard to taste other ingredients, but in the last few months, everything tastes better, and more alive than ever. Even things I used to make taste more vibrant and flavorful than I remembered. So when I ate this minestrone, it was like meeting for the first time. It was so good! It's sitting in my refrigerator right now, and I want another bowl of it. It's also perfect for summer (see my summer corn) or winter vegetables. It's great to have in the freezer with a loaf of my favorite garlic bread to break out on days you just don't feel like cooking. So, if you feel like you need something warm and nourishing, root around in your refrigerator and make a pot tonight!

Spices For Chicken

Because chicken is relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to prepare there are a vast number of recipes available throughout the world. Chicken spices and herbs are abundant and are readily available in almost any market anywhere. Spices and herbs have become abundant thanks to the explorers of the 15th and 16th century.

Open your cupboards and you'll find a spice or herb, or both that can be the beginning of a very tasty recipe. Every chef has several ways of preparing and cooking their chicken and most have a secret ingredient for their wonderful signature dish. Of course, some of these recipes vary regionally and from country to country, depending on availability and prices at the market.

Aromatic herbs are also used along with spices, thereby adding that extra punch. Sage, thyme, rosemary and basil are a good example of the aromatics that I use. When using spices, remember that sometimes a little goes a long way. I have found that marinating the chicken is very helpful in distributing the flavors evenly. Gauge your addition of salt, especially if your recipe calls for butter; make sure that you use unsalted butter so that you don't overwhelm it with too much salt.

Recipes of all kinds are available on the internet and in cookbooks, so not cooking chicken is a limitation that should not occur in your kitchen. For health reasons I prefer to bake and not fry chicken, although I enjoy fried chicken very much. There is one recipe for fried chicken that is very plain and simple. Use all white, all dark, or a combination of both. Wash the chicken and pat dry; add salt, pepper, and allspice. Deep fry in canola oil and pat dry with paper towels before serving.

A very exotic and tasty way to prepare your chicken is by using a fresh, wonderful homemade curry that you will use again and again.

Indian Curried Chicken Recipe:

Basic Curry Powder
6 dried red chiles
1 oz. coriander seeds
2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp black peppercorns
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
10 fresh curry leaves
½ tsp ground ginger
1 tbsp ground turmeric

Remove seeds from chiles. Dry roast the whole spices over a medium heat until they darken, stirring or shaking the pan frequently to prevent burning. Leave to cool, then grind to a powder. Dry roast the curry leaves in the pan for a few minutes, then grind and add them to the mixture with the ginger and turmeric, blending well.

Rub your Curry Powder into the chicken, as needed, about half hour to an hour before roasting in the oven at 350 degrees. A full sized chicken should take twenty minutes per pound, so use your discretion. All things said, it is not what spice you use, but, how you use it. Spices should blend in and not overwhelm. They should never be so intrusive that the essential character of the dish is lost.
